Checking Your Entlebucher
For Healthy Eyes
OshKosh
getting her eyes checked for PRA & cataracts by Dr. MacMillan
To
get your Entlebucher screened for healthy eyes, you must go to a veterinarian
that specializes (or is "boarded") in Vet Ophthalmology.
Dr. MacMillan, of "The Eye Clinic for Animals" in San Diego,
only does eyes (surgery, treatment & exams) because this is his
specialty. He checks our dogs' eyes for both cataracts and Progressive
Retinal Atrophy (PRA). Then he fills out a form that we must send in
to the CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) that officially registers
the dog as having healthy eyes. They send you a certificate good for
1 year. We must repeat this eye test YEARLY on each of our breeding
dogs.
